ICFO Alumni Seminar, with Danny Krautz, Principal at hy-Axel Springer Consulting Group
Bio:
As Principal at hy, Danny Krautz is responsible for developing innovation concepts, technology and business strategies to accelerate new business opportunities. Previously, he was Chief of Staff and Interims General Manager to MuLight Technology GmbH in Berlin and Shanghai. Danny gained additional experience as Senior Venture Manager at CARL ZEISS, at Berlin Partner for Business and Technology GmbH, at Fraunhofer, and at Merck Chemicals in the UK. He studied Electrical Engineering in Stuttgart, Information Technologies in Barcelona and holds a Doctorate in Electronic Engineering from the University in Wuppertal. During his time at ICFO, Danny worked mainly on organic electronics (OLEDs). Recently, he finished an executive course in Finance at the London School of Economics in London, UK. He is initiator and former board member of the Innovation Network for Advanced Materials (INAM) in Berlin.
Abstract:
ICFO provided me with many lessons besides the fundamental technological understanding and the scientific systematic problem solving. Some fundamental lessons were: to think outside the box, to be curious and to continue to learn. I will guide you through my experience coming from research, being fascinated by innovative products and learning to understand market and customer demands. The scientific education and the diverse and truly international environment are fundamental cornerstones of my career outside research. I will emphasize three important steps of my journey: working as a corporate venture capitalist at ZEISS, building a digital Venture in Berlin/Shanghai and developing innovation strategies and digital business models for companies at hy – the Axel Springer Consulting Group. I will guide you through my learnings with the aim to inspire you for your future steps after you gained your degree.
