BIST & ICIQ provide training for Senior Group Leaders

BIST together with the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) organized a training course aimed at senior group leaders from BIST centres and other institutes. The course was led by hfp consulting and took place from October 8-10, 2018 in Montbrió del Camp, Tarragona.

Participants walked away having learned more about themselves and each other, and with an action plan of how to implement their new skills in their day to day work.

The course included many topics such as:
▪ Keys to effective communication
▪ Dealing with conflicts constructively
▪ Achieving better agreements through negotiation
▪ Managing time and tasks
▪ Dealing with different personalities
▪ Delegating tasks more effectively
▪ Managing meetings and discussions
▪ Setting clear goals
▪ Recruiting the right people

The course also included a session dedicated to fostering interdisciplinary project ideas.

The course is part of the BIST Talent programme, which aims to attract, retain, and develop the brightest researchers and professionals by providing career development activities that meet their needs at all stages of their professional growth.
