Treellum Technologies wins Emprèn Award from Diputació de Tarragona

The ICIQ spin-off Treellum Technologies has won the Technology and Innovation category of the Emprèn Award from Diputació de Tarragona, for the development of technological tools that allow the use of natural light for scientific research.

This is a great recognition of our work, the core of our company is indeed technology and innovation! We’re very grateful for both the economic prize and also the one year of advice and mentoring that will help us bring our products closer to our customers,” explains Dr. Esther Alza, co-founder and CEO of Treellum Technologies, former manager of the ERTFLOW Unit, and former member the Pericàs group.

The 9th edition of the Emprèn Awards has promoted a total of 20 business projects in the Camp de Tarragona, Terres de l’Ebre and Baix Penedès, with a total financial endowment of € 35,000. The five winning projects received an economic prize of 4,000 € that will serve to advance the project, as well as a personalised advisory service from the technical team of the Provincial Council and the collaborating entities. In addition, the Emprèn 2021 Awards of the Diputació have recognised another 15 projects in different categories, with an endowment of 1,000 € each.

The aim of the event, held at the centre for entrepreneurship Boca de la Mina, is to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation, while at the same time helping to boost employment and the economy of the territory with the creation of new companies. In this sense, the president of the Tarragona Provincial Council, Noemí Llauradó, stated during the event that “these awards are an indispensable link in the Provincial Council’s desire to encourage economic activity based on knowledge, technology and innovation.” She also emphasised that “the role of entrepreneurs is vital in this process of generating wealth for our territory, based on new business models with added value, more competitive and adapted to the new times and new needs of the citizenship.”
