The “March for Science” in Barcelona is taking place this Saturday, April 22, in the inner square of the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB) from 12h to 16h. Chair of the BIST Board of Trustees Dr. Andreu Mas-Colell is supporting this event.
The March for Science supports science in more than 400 cities around the world. The initiative was born in the United States in response to the deep concern of scientists and citizens against the growing wave of anti scientific politics and the erosion of the social image of science. Subsequently, cities around the world have added movement. The promoters of this initiative want to work to make science an open and inclusive activity, and to ensure that solid evidence, obtained through the scientific method, is the basis of political actions.
The initiative in Barcelona has the support of many prominent personalities including the President of the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST), Dr. Andreu Mas-Colell, Director of the BIST and of the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ), Dr. Miquel A. Pericàs, and Director of the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona), Dr. Joan J. Guinovart, among others.
The program at the PRBB will include a statement about the March for Science Barcelona, a round table discussion, science outreach and Earth Day activities, and live entertainment, food, and drink.
All are invited to attend.
