The Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona, a BIST centre) will hold a week-long Open House from June 8 to 12 in a hybrid in-person/virtual format.

With the goal of bringing the latest research in biomedicine and the life sciences closer to the public, IRB Barcelona periodically organises communication and scientific dissemination initiatives that are free and open to the public. The IRB Barcelona Open House is one of these activities.

This year IRB Barcelona will be holding an entire week-long Open House, from June 8 to 12, which will be adapted to the current circumstances. Attendees will be able to enjoy both face-to-face activities (organised with strict health and safety measures in mind) and virtual ones, including laboratory visits, information “capsules” (“Science Snacks”), and a round table with experts from the research sector and moderated by journalist Lídia Heredia.

Public outreach activities don’t only show off the cutting-edge research carried out by scientists, but also offer participants a look at the fascinating microscopic world and the foundations of life, which need to be understood to improve human health and quality of life.
