Apeiron Intelligence, a spin-off company launched by the BIST Community centre ICN2 in 2025, has attracted three investors and secured €660,000 in a funding round.
The company has been experiencing rapid growth in AI-driven materials innovation. Over the past year, it has successfully participated in some of the world’s most important scientific and innovation forums, showcasing its technology and solutions to researchers, industry stakeholders, potential partners, and investors.
Apeiron Intelligence, a spin-off that originated in 2025 from the ICN2 Theoretical and Computational Nanoscience Group, has secured €660,000 in a funding round with three new investors. The company was founded with the aim of turning decades of the group’s research in computational physics, quantum materials and artificial intelligence into practical, high-impact solutions for industry.
The investment represents an important milestone in the company’s initial development. In just a couple of years, Apeiron Intelligence has progressed from an internal incubation project supported through the ICN2 Severo Ochoa programme to a growing technology company with increasing international visibility. This achievement reflects the commitment and perseverance of the team, which has worked to validate its technology, engage with industrial stakeholders and build strong connections with leading experts in advanced materials.
Thanks to this investment, Apeiron Intelligence will expand its operations and speed up the development of its technology. The company has launched an AI-driven platform that can work seamlessly with the leading materials simulation codes and run realistic models of up to one trillion atoms. This technology offers a wide range of industries significant advantages by drastically reducing the time needed to develop and bring innovative solutions to market.
Over the past months, Apeiron Intelligence has showcased its services at several major international events, including the Mobile World Congress, I2DM, Quantum Matter, and the Graphene Conference. The company has been represented by its CEO, Andrei Tomut, and its CTO, Dr José Hugo García, alongside ICREA Prof. Stephan Roche, in a range of pitches and talks where they presented the company’s vision and technological solutions.
