Graphene is a promising material for a variety of biomedical applications. Its possibilities span from cancer therapies to biomarker diagnostics and implants to be applied in the fields of neurology or ophthalmology. It is a growing focus of interest managed at the Graphene Flagship through its Biomedical Technologies and Sensors Work Packages, in which ICN2 Group Leaders ICREA Prof. Jose Antonio Garrido and ICREA Prof. Arben Merkoçi are involved.

The Graphene Flagship, the Medical Association of Barcelona (Col·legi de Metges de Barcelona, COMB) and the ICN2 are co-organizing a Graphene Connect event on MedTech and Diagnostic Technologies. The event will be complemented with the first Graphene for Health Investment Forum (Apply now for the elevator pitch, due September 15th!) which will take place on November 6th and will be hosted at the premises of the COMB in Barcelona.

Graphene Connect consists of a series of workshops aimed at fostering the interest of industries into graphene technologies. This Graphene Connect on MedTech and Diagnostic Technologies will gather stakeholders from the academic, industrial and medical areas who will present their perspective and needs. The participants will explore the graphene-based technologies opportunities and challenges to reach the market.

The Graphene Connect workshop will be followed by the first Graphene for Health Investment Forum, an unprecedented occasion to showcase graphene innovative projects targeting the healthcare sector. The Forum will be open to early-stage start-ups/spin-off and entrepreneurs looking for an injection of capital to allow them to carry out their projects. They will have the opportunity to pitch their project in front of healthcare investors and the medical community.
