This month, the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry (RSEQ) held its annual awards ceremony to award distinguished Spanish scientists who have stood out for their contributions in the field of chemistry.

The 2019 RSEQ Gold Medal was awarded to Dr. Miquel Àngel Pericàs, Director of the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ), a BIST centre. His contributions to the field of chemistry in Spain and in general are both numerous and extremely cutting-edge. The award is very well deserved. More information about Dr. Pericas’ research can be found here.

The 2019 RSEQ Awards for Research Excellence were awarded to a number of researchers across Spain, including the very deserving Dr. José Ramón Galán Mascarós, ICIQ Group Leader. More information about his research can be found here.

And finally, the 2019 Reaxys-RSEQ Early Research Award was also presented to ICIQ researcher Dr. José Enrique Gómez Pulido earlier this month in Valencia. Dr. Pulido is a former PhD student in ICIQ’s Kleij group. The award’s evaluation committee of experts was made up in part by Dr. Ana G. Herraiz, former ICIQ PhD student and winner of the 2018 Reaxys-RSEQ Early Research Award.

Congratulations to all ICIQ awardees!
