The Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) and the ESADE Business School have organized a course “From Science to Business” with the goal of accelerating the transfer of technologies developed in the BIST research institutes to the marketplace.

A three-day’s intensive course started with a welcome event in the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) where Carles Puente explained his experience with Fractus and, afterwards, participants could meet each other during the networking cocktail.

Based in ICFO’s success, the sixth edition of From Science to Business has further evolved into a training program coordinated by The Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST), expanding its frontiers to incorporate researchers from the six different research centers that comprise BIST.

The initiative to undertake this course is in line with the BIST’s strategic objectives, which include promoting opportunities to transfer the cutting-edge science being developed in the six centers, fostering collaboration among researchers in the different knowledge areas, and offering high level training for PhD students, postdocs and group leaders,” highlights Dr. Montserrat Vendrell, Director General of BIST.

The course, taught by specialized faculty from ESADE, was divided into three areas: innovation and strategy, entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial finance.

“From Science to Business” course has received support from the Generalitat de Catalunya.
