Abstract
One of the most appealing research areas is the mechanistic understanding of multi-electron multi-proton processes, which is a central part of the activation of small molecules such as CO2 and H2O.1 Further understanding of how these mechanisms operate is essential for the development of active catalysts for sustainable energy conversion and storage.2 In this line, we will disclose the main factors affecting the photo- and electrocatalytic transformations and how to gain mechanistic information.3 We will also expand the catalytic activity to the reduction of organic substrates,4 opening a pathway for the synthesis of fine solar chemicals.
