This Conference is organised by women at EMBL in collaboration with outstanding women from different organisations and institutes across Europe, with the aim of highlighting the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on women scientists and explore solutions to minimise the gender gap in academia.
We will bring together a diverse group of women scientists from different research areas and at various professional stages to provide insight into the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on their work and future prospects. Prominent scientific leaders will explain practical steps, solutions and actions that they are implementing at their research institutions, which could serve as the basis for the “new normal” in academia.
Among speakers, the EMBL Director General Edith Heard will participate in the conference with the talk “Life in the time of COVID-19: watching the crisis with my gender glasses on” and Zulema Altamirano Argudo from the Women and Science Unit, Spanish Science and Innovation Ministry, Spain, with the talk ” Gender and science in times of COVID-19: the role of the Women and Science Unit”.
This conference is free of charge and open to the public (subject to registration prior to the event).
