The talk will give an overview about recent activities of BASF in the area of High Performance Computing (HPC). It will be shown how HPC has become an integral part of the R&D process and why the largest supercomputer in the chemical industry has been deployed in Ludwigshafen. Illustrative examples for simulations typically run at BASF in the fields of catalysis and battery materials research will be given.
