Supervising PhD Students: getting the skills for effective supervision (for Group Leaders and Senior Researchers)

This two-half day interactive training workshop will focus on your responsibilities as a PhD student senior supervisor.  We will explore best practice and you will leave with a road map to how you will work with your students.  This workshop is also a good opportunity to share experience and best practice with other group leaders and senior researchers.

Learning Objectives 

  • Ensure you fulfill your obligations as a PhD supervisor
  • Understanding the motivations and needs of your student, to best manage their progress
  • Skills to deal with difficult conversations regarding research direction or output
  • Effectively manage the time spent on supervising alongside your other responsibilities.

The workshop is for members of the BIST Community, exclusively. A total of 25 spots are available, and they will be given on first arrived served basis. All BIST centers representation will be ensure.
