From Lab to Market: Showcasing Three Deep Tech Startups

The Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) introduces in this session three scientific entrepreneurs from multidisciplinary backgrounds who lead Deep Tech spin-offs from three BIST centres.

Deep Tech startups create disruptive solutions founded on unique, protected and hard-to-reproduce scientific discoveries or engineering innovations. While scientific entrepreneurs have the same challenges as all other entrepreneurs, there are some unique differences that they need to face and overcome.

Join us to learn more from our speakers who represent industries as diverse as quantum computing, photoreactors for photocatalytic chemical reactions and computing technologies for drug discovery.

Speakers

Victor Canivell, co-founder and CEO of Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech

Victor Canivell is co-founder and CEO of Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech, the quantum computing spin-off from the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), the Institute of High Energy Physics (IFAE) and the University of Barcelona (UB). Prior to Qilimanjaro, Victor has spent over fifteen years as CEO driving high tech startups in the software security SaaS and bioinformatics markets, all of which have been later acquired. Prior to his entrepreneurship career, Victor held general management and VP roles for US IT multinationals at both European and Spanish levels over a twenty-year period (Hewlett Packard, Silicon Graphics & Cray Research, 3Com, PerkinElmer).
