On December 14th, 2017, BIST organized a Working Groups Meet-up to bring together all BIST working groups for an end-of the year wrap-up event and celebration.
The event included an official introduction of the new BIST Director, Gabby Silberman, to the community, as well as acknowledgement of the hard work done by the outgoing BIST Director, Miquel A. Pericàs. During the event, each working group had a chance to present about the work done during 2017 and what they were looking forward to doing in 2018. The afternoon wrapped up with some cava, finger foods, and a time to mingle.
BIST thanks all of its dedicated working groups for their hard work and enthusiasm. We are looking forward to more shared projects in 2018!

More about the BIST Working Group structure:
The working group structure of the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) is set up such that a number of working groups, comprised of both core members of the BIST team as well as members from the BIST centres, are responsible for specific projects within the focus areas of BIST. The BIST centres’ directors also meet directly with the working group members from their centres.
The BIST Centres are: Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG), Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), The Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO), Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ), Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2), Institute for High Energy Physics (IFAE), and Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona).
