BIST scientists among the world’s most highly cited researchers in 2020

Three researchers working at BIST centres have made it onto the list of the most highly cited researchers in the world in 2020.

The Web of Science Group, a Clarivate Analytics company, has published its annual list of Highly Cited Researchers. This list shows researchers in the sciences and social sciences who published mutiple papers ranking in the top 1% by citations for their area of research and publication year, thus representing very high research influence among their peers.

On the list this year are three researchers working at BIST centres:

Roderic Guigó, working at the BIST centre CRG
Frank Koppens, working at the BIST centre ICFO
Maciej Lewenstein, working at the BIST centre ICFO

Congratulations to these very deserving researchers!

Of the countries represented in this years’s list, Spain in in tenth place, with 99 researchers (1.6% of the total), to which 16 can be added if secondary affiliation is taken into account. By autonomous communities, Catalonia ranks highest in Spain, with 37 researchers on the list.
