The Intervals leadership training program for Junior Group Leaders took place from July 3-5 in Barcelona. Of the 15 participants, 11 came from BIST centres.
The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) promoted the initiative and offered it to the BIST Community through the PRBB Intervals program. The trainers of the course came from HFP-consulting, a company focused on supporting leadership in science and providing professional development workshops exclusively for the scientific community.
The objective of the course was to improve the leadership skills of Junior Group Leaders and at the same time offer the opportunity to establish a peer support group across the different research centers. The course allowed participants to have very useful dicussions about leadership topics relevant to their work in an intimate and open environment. Participants reviewed the course very positively and emphasized its impact.
The course is part of the BIST Talent program, which aims to attract, retain, and develop the brightest researchers and professionals by providing career development activities that meet their needs at all stages of their professional growth.

More about BIST’s Talent mission:
BIST understands the need to support the different professional careers to help its teams reach a level of international excellence. We follow the recommendations of the European Charter for Researchers and code of conduct assuming that mobility is inherent in a research career. We are therefore empowering our researchers with the capacities that enable them to work with other research centers in different cultural environments, and to address projects that combine different disciplines or explore business development opportunities related to their research results. We are committed to a global citizen, a global researcher.
