Four researchers working at BIST Centres have been awarded prestigious European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grants this week.
The European Research Council (ERC) announced the 2017 winners of the prestigious ERC Starting Grants this week. Among the winners were four researchers working at the centres of the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST):
Elvan Boke of the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) for her project entitled “DORMANTOOCYTE: Understanding the Balbiani body: A superorganelle linked to dormancy in oocytes”
Lorenzo Albertazzi of the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) for his project entitled “NANOSTORM: Design of Nanomaterials for Targeted Therapies Guided by Super Resolution Imaging”
Simon Wall of The Institute of Photonic Science (ICFO) for his project entitled “SeeSuper: Probing nanoscale and femtosecond fluctuations in high temperature superconductors”
Fran Supek of the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona) for his project entitled “HYPERINSIGHT: Hypermutated tumors: insight into genome maintenance and cancer vulnerabilities provided by an extreme burden of somatic mutations”
