BIST centres participate in Science Week

The centres of the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) are participating in Science Week 2019, which is on between November 8th and 17th in Catalonia.

The BIST centres are: The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG), the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), The Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO), the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ), the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2), the Institute for High Energy Physics (IFAE), and the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona).

Several of the BIST centres are participating in the 2019 Science Week, with talks, learning kits, visits, and more. The full programme for the event can be found here and the specific activities run by the BIST centres can be found below.

ICFO Science Week activities:

ICFO is launching pilot phase of a new Citizen Science Experiment: NightUp. This event will call citizens of Castelldefels to participate with their mobile phones to map the colours of the city’s artificial lights. The programme will be launched through a series of talks, including:

Nov 8, 2019: Talk about the NightUp Citizen Science Project in Cal Ganxo (Castelldefels) [+]
Nov 11, 2019: Inauguration talk of the academic year at the Institut Gabriel Ferrater (Reus) [+]
Nov 12, 2019: Talk about the NightUp Citizen Science Project in EETAC (Castelldefels) [+]
Nov 15, 2019: Talk about the NightUp Citizen Science Project in the Castelldefels Public Library [+]

ICFO is also organizing a visit of their premises for senior citizens:

ICN2 Science Week activities:

Nov 12, 2019: 60 students in their first and second year at the Institut Can Mas de Ripollet High School will visit ICN2 [+]

Nov 12, 2019: Àlex Argemí, Head of ICN2 Communication Department will visit the Institut Menéndez y Pelayo and the Col·legi Claret, Barcelona to give a talk on nanotechnology and ICN2 activities [+]

 

CRG Science Week activities:

CRG will send their kit d’electroforesi itinerant to the following schools from November 13th to 22nd, 2019:
