Despite the challenges brought on by the pandemic in 2020, BIST activities not only continued, but in some areas even grew thanks to the hard work and adaptability of the many individuals and groups dedicated to the BIST activities, the BIST Working Groups among them, and to the support of the members of our Board of Trustees.
Despite the challenges brought on by the pandemic in 2020, BIST activities not only continued, but in some areas even grew thanks to the hard work and adaptability of the many individuals and groups dedicated to the BIST activities, the BIST Working Groups among them, and to the support of the members of our Board of Trustees.Among the many accomplishments in 2020 is the development of our new Strategic Plan to guide our joint efforts over the coming years and into the future. It reflects our strong determination to accomplish more impactful results through our actions, and establishes strategic initiatives to promote collaboration in research around health, sustainability, and quantum technologies.
The year 2020 also proved immensely successful in the area of research and innovation, with eight new ERC grants received by BIST researchers, and seven new spin-off companies launched.
